In answer to Betty McCain, I too habe uterine fibroids having had investigation. The Consultant says the occasional bleeding I have from them (I am 60 this year) will peter out! Do you have this problem and what did your Consultant say?

I am 36yrs,I had multiple fibroids. I had sugery in sept 2005 and they were all removed. Three years now when i had a scan they found small fibroids and I am told the might they reason I have not yet concieved. The Xray report says "Features of gross uterine deformity with bilateral tubal occlusion". What does that last statement mean? And I need some advice because i need a babay.

i have a pedunculated fribroid growing on the outside of my uterus at 13 cm. very large. i am a small girl so i appear to be 5 mos. pregnant. no problems with bleeding. some cramping and long heavy periods. i have had two ultra sounds.within the past two mos. and the fibroid has grown 2 cm. i don't have insurance but my doctor who will be performing the surgery is very good and kind. he is going to try to do a liproscopic surgery and only to remove the top of my uterus as to not have fi
rbroids grow back . this is the only way i can get the surgery covered. i am trying to get county medical services to pay for the procedure. so far i have been approved. now my doctor has to convince them it is urgent before we can proceed. honestly how much bigger do i have to get before its considered urgent? i have been told by my first doctor that because it's not cancerous that only heavy bleeding would justify urgency. i don't really know what i will do if i cant get approved for the surgery. there are allot of people out there barking up my tree to buy their book or herbs. i am 47 years old so i don't even think i would be having a child anymore. i just want to get this out of me with no chance of it ever coming back.

I don't know what type fibroid I have but my doctor was telling the nurse that it was above the navel? Anyhow at the time I was 62yrso and the fibroid was approx 16cm and doctor suggested hysterectomy which I refused. I also had 2 large ovarian cysts which I allowed the doctor to remove my ovaries because he said as a precaution of poss cancer. My doctor said if the fibroid presented no problems for me then I could leave it intact which I did do. However, I very rarely if ever hear about women my age having fibroids and I am interested to know why not? I am still trying natural alternatives in an attempt to shrink it, so far, no luck

Haven't been to doc to see about fibroids since son was born April 12, 2006. Thanks for the info. Ginger.
